The People Behind the Bedding

It’s our birthday! QE Home is officially 34 years old. Like many millennials, we find ourselves reflecting on our journey, and looking forward to many more years as Canada’s favourite bedding store! The thing we’re most proud of here at QE Home is the team that makes QE Home so special for us and our customers.

Meet the people behind the bedding:

Amie I. (Scarborough, ON)

Hello QE home family! I’m Amie originally from branch 828, and now at 819. I’ve been working at QE since October 2013!

How many pillows are on your bed right now?

We have 4 pillows in our room.

What’s your favourite thing about working at QE Home?

Working at QE home is very rewarding… you will meet different kinds of people and personalities. You will hear stories, milestones, and anniversaries that you can say QE home is a part of, from parents sending kids to school (dorm bedding) to gifts for kids that are getting married, and new immigrants, we’re a part of it all! 

If you were one of our Designer Bedding Collections, which one would you be and why?

Aside from Alder which is classic I love Charity and Sasha.

What do you love doing in your free time?

During my free time I love spending quality time with my family, doing food trips/road trips, and casual trips. Life is too short, so make the most of it and explore.

Alysha H. (Saint John, NB)

Hii! My name is Alysha and I've worked at QE Home for the last 5.5 years!! 

I currently have 4 pillows on my bed (but definitely getting more, I have to try everything!!)

My favourite part of working at QE Home is making sure every kind soul that comes into our store leaves with the most perfect fit for them. I love making people happy. 

If I were a designer linen collection, I think I would be Gardenglow. Soft, girly, and bright. A standout for sure. 

In all of my free time, I will have my music playing in the background (more specifically One Direction lol). I'm a musician by nature, so whether I'm recording my own music video or coming up with choreography, music is a constant in my life.

A fun fact about me is QE Home was actually my first job!! I started at 16 after our mall opened back up after Covid, and I absolutely fell in love with the entire place! The customers, the products, the company itself.

Tara M. (Store Support Centre, BC)

I have four pillows on my bed.

My favourite thing about working at QE Home is the people and the environment. I really enjoy being here.

I would be the Raintree Stonewashed Duvet Cover Set because my favourite colour is green, and I love this design. It’s simple, yet not so simple at the same time, and I love the stonewashed finish.

In my free time, I love working out, going for walks, cooking, and watching movies. 

Something fun and unexpected about me is that I really enjoy planning events.

I have 8 pillows and a cat on my bed.

My favourite thing about working with QE Home is our customers and the ability to be a part of their lives as well as our team members.

In my spare time I love to garden, sing, surf and read.

FUN FACT… I was on Wipeout and sang at The Viper Room!! (IYKYK)

Palak M. (Store Support Centre, BC)

I have 6 pillows and a boudoir on my bed.

I love the QE culture, how everyone is so approachable and amicable. I love it here because the work environment is toxic-free!

If I were a designer collection I would be Positano, a bit flowery, scattered, all over the place. But I would like to be refreshing like it too!

In my spare time, I have started working out recently. Else, I go to meet friends, hang out, visit new lakesides, and enjoy beautiful BC!

A fun fact about me is that I am a graduate in an Indian Classical Dance Form. It has never made it to the public, so yay! 

Sheila K. (Lethbridge, AB)

I have 6 pillows on my bed!

I love working in an environment where I can learn from and contribute to a great team.

The Chalkstone Duvet Cover is probably me… Basic but can be dressed up depending on the mood or occasion.

My free time is spent playing catch up at home but I do enjoy a round of golf now and then.

A little-known thing about me is that prior to having kids I spent about 7 years as a heavy equipment operator.

I currently have 2 pillows on my bed.

At QE Home, I love the culture and how close everyone is, it makes every day that much more enjoyable.

If I were a designer collection, I’d have to be Fraser because I just absolutely love the vibe of a foggy, overcast rainforest.

I enjoy going to shows, building modelling kits and spending time with my cats.

Something interesting about me is I’m an incredibly picky eater and I have the tastebuds of a 6 year old.

Alexx O. (Lethbridge, AB)

I have 4 pillows on my bed, plus many plushies that I do occasionally use as pillows. 

My favourite thing about working at QE Home is definitely my coworkers! I’m so lucky to have a great team that has so much fun. A close second is getting to interact with customers in such a close fashion. 

If I had to choose a designer linen to represent me, I would pick Striation! I’m an environmental science student, and Striation reminds me so much of sedimentary stones that are plentiful in our region. I’ve also been told that I am a “rock” to my family and friends. (I’m also pretty stubborn).

In my free time I love to cosplay, and I’ve recently taken an interest in photography! A fun fact about me is that I was a competitive dancer for 13 years before I graduated high school!

Mahnoor M. (Bramalea, ON)

I currently have 4 pillows on my bed. 

My favourite thing about  working at QE Home is getting to work with a second family! And getting to see all the new duvet cover patterns and the beautiful seasonal sheets. 

If I was one of our Designer Bedding Collections I would be Persuasion, such a soft and subtle look but always making a bold statement!

In my free time, I absolutely love being out in the fall, and going on walks in the crisp weather, soaking in all the colourful leaves, and cozy traditions like warm fires - making sure it’s all done with a big cup of coffee.

Something unexpected about me is that my first and last names are the same because my family says they forgot to write the last name on the birth certificate, so it’s cool I got my own last name!

Vitor L. (Store Support Centre, BC)

I have two pillows, one for my head, one for me to spoon.

My favourite thing at QE Home is the overall casualness and reasonable informality in the office, I even get to play music in the studio!

If I were a designer bedding collection, I’d be Kye, masculine with a soft side.

In my free time, I love being outside either on two wheels or two feet.

Something unexpected is that I’m not a big traveller, I enjoy the slow process of adapting to and bonding with a place before going to another.

No. Pillows: 2 plus 2 euros.

My favourite thing at QE Home is customer interaction and appreciation. I laid out a duvet cover for someone, quite sure it was "right" based on information she'd provided. She told me she had goosebumps, it was so perfect! 

If I were a Duvet Cover, I might be Renoir...

In my free time, I'm a Scottish country dancer and teacher, or busy with Zonta activities (building a better world for women and girls), or involved with Pearson College activities, or, most recently, doing fused glass art. 

After all of the above, is anything unexpected? I have hosted over 400 students from 125 countries, if that counts...

Alana H. (Regina, SK)

I currently have 7 pillows on my bed, I only use 3 of them though. 

My favourite thing about working at QE Home is that we are one big family, it’s having one another to celebrate victories with, to lift each other up and cheer each other on. 

What duvet cover would I be? Well let’s just say purple speaks to me, Divine had my heart the moment we met.

In my free time I love relaxing on our deck and working in the yard, then having a glass of wine at the end of the day. I’m also a quilter and love to sew!

And an unexpected fact is that I LOVE being on the back of Harley with my partner!
